Re: Listening to triggering music

@creative_writer sounds pretty productive! glad you're feeling a lil better. med side effects are hard to predict sometimes! i have noticed that i've experienced intense drowsiness and low moods when i've been sick compared to everyone else in my family - could be cos of my anxiety or my low immunity or both! maybe it's similar for you?

ahh yep the melb heat is does NOT help with that tiredness!! out of all my body parts, my hands keep getting super sweaty for some reason. dinner, prayer and watching tv sounds like a good plan - sometimes just keeping up with routine stuff like eating, prayer, etc makes a bigger difference than we expect. and idk about you, but i usually couch/bed rot when i'm sick and just binge tv shows. helps distract my mind for the time being. are you watching any shows/movies at the moment?

Re: Listening to triggering music

@rav3n being sick doesn’t help, but the antibiotics didn’t help either. It’s going to take a while to replenish gut bacteria and you need a healthy gut for your mental health.

I hate the feeling of sweat, it gives me sensory overload. I’ve been watching Turkish TV shows lately with English subtitles.

I’m in a strange situation, on one hand I’m feeling angry and hurt from trauma, and feel sort of worthless. On the other hand I recognise that I’ve grown a lot and have become a better person through it, so I suppose that increases my worth. These two sides are in conflict with each other

Re: Listening to triggering music

OMG @creative_writer are you STILL SICK? You poor darlin!! That is so rough 🥺

Remind me, have you ever done IFS therapy or just read about it? I'm curious cos I've been finding lately that parts work is THE best thing for me for resolving internal conflict.

Re: Listening to triggering music

@creative_writer that's true too, and i'm sure you'll be able to replenish those soon! even something like drinking turmeric diluted in warm milk used to help me with my gut health and sickness.

ooo what's the show called? i've only watched one Turkish show, i think it was Love101 or something like that.

i can see how exhausting and confusing it can be battling those 2 sides! i'm curious to hear about both your thoughts on IFS therapy @Jynx

Re: Listening to triggering music

@Jynx I’m doing better, still not 100%. I still have an eww taste at the back of my mouth. But no fever, or severe face pain and coughing fits. I’m just grateful it didn’t end up worse.

I’ve read about IFS, I also did a bit of re-thinking about potential psych. Maybe a neuroaffirming psych would be a better fit since it is less pathologising. I do have a lot of research to do in finding one. I actually have volunteer work online training to do too by a set deadline. I probably should get started tomorrow by at least completing the police check which I have been putting off. Filling forms felt like too much effort when sick. It would also be good if I could get my resume up to scratch soon, I anticipate that Centrelink is going to give me targets soon for job applying

Re: Listening to triggering music

@rav3n having a good diet helps a lot, along with anti-inflammatory herbs. I’m currently watching Kurulus: Osman and Mehmed: Fetihler Sultani. They are both historical TV shows.

I’ve considered IFS as an option, I think I probably need something different in therapy

Re: Listening to triggering music

@creative_writer ohhh the ew taste is gnarly!! Chewing gum kinda helps!!

Oooh yes moving away from pathologising and also I'm always wary of someone who puts the focus/onus of responsibility solely onto the client (as in like, doesn't take environmental, social, cultural, or contextual factors into account). Holistic is the word I think that describes the kind of approach.

Ugh... paperwork. Yeah I got some too, been putting it off and I haven't even been sickly!! And are you gonna get someone to take a peak at your resume? Do Centrelink offer guidance on stuff like that? I seem to remember they did, but it was very hit n miss

Re: Listening to triggering music

@Jynx I prefer those mouth sprays since chewing gum hurts my jaw, probably TMJ.

Holistic is definitely the way to go. People don’t exist in a vacuum, I do agree it can get overlooked at times.

I may ask someone to have a peak. So far Centrelink hasn’t said anything about job plan, I know they’ve been having technical issues too. I’ve been a bit too sick to actually do anything so probably needed time away. I do need to get into things now that I’m feeling better. The only thing I’ve finalised recently is volunteer work. I thought it would be good to do something while I wait to find a job

Re: Listening to triggering music

@creative_writer oooh mouth spray, never tried it! Unless you count sour sherbert flavoured candy spray? 😝

Oh nice, that's amazing!! Where you gonna volunteer, if you are able to share?

I am off for now but keen to hear more tomorrow, if you're about!! Nighty night 💜

Re: Listening to triggering music

@Jynx it’s just one of those minty breath refresher sprays. It seems to help with migraines too, surprisingly.

I’m volunteering at a helpline. I do have stuff I need to do before the official training starts.

I hope you had a restful night 💖

I find myself feeling sick to my stomach and nauseous, and feeling pressure on my chest. Maybe I am losing my mind
