Re: My special place

Aww yay hope it's helpful @Snowie!! Nighty night hun, and if I don't catch you Monday, Merry Xmas!! Been a pleasure to catch up as always, ya sweetheart. Rest well 😊💜

Re: My special place

Went and got all the food this morning for Christmas day. So except for the fresh meat/seafood that I will get Tuesday morning then everything is done ✔️

Am hoping that means I don't need to go near the shops again. They were busy enough today, I'd hate to think what they would be like in the next few days.

Took mum to Bunnings as she wanted some plants. She loves gardening so I guess it gives her something to do over the next week or so. And she brought a lot!!

Got a few for my garden too. Lets see if I can keep them alive!!

Got a message from a friend this morning. She let me know that her Dad passed away yesterday. He was in the final stages of Alzheimer's. He had no clue who his wife or daughters/grandkids were. I guess he is at peace now. We have known the family for over 60 years. Mum is still friends with his wife. Had to tell mum, which didn't go down well.

Hit a bit to close to home. Will have to go to the funeral and take mum.

Re: My special place

Woohoo to you @Snowie . Well done on the shop.

Do you need to order the food/seafood? I'm thinking there will be a lot of people thinking the same thing as you and getting it the day before?

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's dad. I can hear how close to home it will be for you at this time.

Is there anything we can do to help you at this moment? How are you feeling?

Re: My special place

All ordered and paid for @tyme so will go down very early Tuesday morning (to avoid people) to pick it up. Now just waiting on one package to arrive.

I had spoken to his daughter a lot lately about Alzheimer's. She knows what we are going through, what stage we are at and could understand. She also gave me a few suggestions. It was only 4 days ago that we spoke. I guess I should have expected it, I knew he was very unwell. It's hard not to think about being in that position one day.

In a way I am glad, his suffering has come to an end and that he's at peace. I'm also scared about what is to come. Are we going to be in that position one day? I know no one can answer that, there is so much still not known about this disease.

I actually feel nothing. It's like all my emotions have just disappeared.

Re: My special place

It's a lot to take in and it sounds like it's one of those things that you really can't 'believe' it until it happens.

Go easy on yourself. I see how tough it can be to manage. In a way, do you feel more supported in being able to speak to your friend? @Snowie

Re: My special place

@tyme I do think it is like that. Even though it is expected, it still comes as a shock.

I think it is like our mental health. Being on the forum and having people understand what you are going through makes things a little easier. You don't feel as alone. You feel like you can reach out for help and have that understanding person on the other end. I guess it's like that on help lines too.

So I do think speaking to my friend has/is helping. Just being able to talk about things and knowing they understand and have been in the same position as you are. I reached out today to them with my condolences but will leave it there for now. I will wait until they are ready to talk to them again.

Re: My special place

20 mins away people are getting evacuated because of bush fires.

Re: My special place

Wow @Snowie .

My Brother in law was saying something about that bushfires and the sun today. Then my niece said, "The bushfires don't reach the sun. Why would the sun be orange?" I didn't look, but now I see your photo! Wow!

Re: My special place

Are you in Vic @Snowie

the smoke haze is seen in Melb

Not in my area though

very scary

do you need to evacuate?
thinking of you xxx

Re: My special place

Had to close up the house @tyme because of the smell too.

You don't want them to happen but it does make for a cool photo.

@BlueBay yes in Vic. We are ok for the moment. Not uncommon to have fires near us. We do live rural. People posting on resident pages on FB asking for help in relocating their horses/lambs etc.

How are you going?
