Re: My Place

Yes @Oaktree one really has to be ready for it. For me trust was hard because of the trauma I endured as a child. So therapy helped me a.) understand my emotions (both good and bad ones) b.) what to do when I get the bad emotions and c.) how do I begin trusting people. I had to learn that not everyone is out to get me lol.

But it's a journey and you have to be ready for it.

You could go to the best therapist in the world - but if you're not ready for it, you're not going to get anywhere.

Go gently.

Re: My Place

Thanks @AD_SANE_LEM

You are wise.

Your answers have helped me a lot.

I also need to work on emotional regulation and learning to trust people. If anyone else asks you about this feel free to drag them over to this thread to read what you have already shared. It must be boring to keep repeating your story.

Thank you so much for being so forthcoming

Re: My Place

Hello @Oaktree , @AD_SANE_LEM

I was emotionally and mentally and physically abused by my father until mum and I left But he kept rejecting me until his death

It is hard sometimes to carry on and not to remember the rejection

@Shaz51

I know right? My father was physically abusive and my Mother was mentally abusive as well as slapping me often. I keep thinking I am 53 now! My childhood was so long ago. But it still affects me.

Re: My Place

Yes it does still affects me @Oaktree@AD_SANE_LEM , sometimes I think it should not worry me anymore but it does and I am 60

And my dad passed away 17 years ago

Re: My Place

Oh for sure @Shaz51 the scars of those old wounds still pang don't they? Sometimes it comes outta nowhere. Don't forget though that his rejection only reflects on him, and not on you or your worth. Can be hard to remember, but do try to eh?

Sending you some very squishy huggles!🫂
