Thankyou for taking the time to read and reply when you were so exhausted @NatureLover ... I truly hope you feel stronger and more rested tomorrow.

Hi @Dimity , thanks. I had my Covid annual booster this morning, then spent the day resting. I did do 2 laundry washes though.
You said you had some medical tests this week? How are they going?

Hi @NatureLover
I haven't had the tests yet. I meant to this afternoon but felt wiped out. I had a shingles vaccination this morning and the gp was concerned my blood pressure was too low.
The family drama continues to evolve.
I'm a bit overwhelmed with things at the moment and like you, very tired. We battle on.

Oh @Dimity , I'm sorry to hear all that 😥
How are *you* sleeping, may I ask?
Sorry to hear the family drama is continuing 😣
Sending care...

Thanks @NatureLover. I guess I'm having trouble getting to sleep then getting up several times at night/early morning. Hopefully that will be resolved very soon.
The family stuff is draining and I probably need the help of the social worker but it would be hard to fit in at the moment, and I feel diffident asking.

It doesn't sound like you're getting much sleep, @Dimity 😥
Yes, the family dramas must be very draining 😣
Are you thinking of maybe seeing the social worker after your surgery?
By the way, I like your sophisticated use of language in general ("diffident").

Hello @NatureLover .
I probably get enough total sleep but it's broken.
Yes I hope to see the social worker again but I'm not sure when. She'd suggested focussing on getting through my procedure and tackling the family situation further down the track but we hadn't known that things would change.
I confess I'm not always confident in my choice of words and often double check the meaning when a word occurs to me. I was a voracious reader in my early years - later becoming a compulsive bookbuyer - but haven't read much for a very long time. Hopefully I'll get back to it but it will involve breaking my addiction to phone and tablet screens.

@Dimity You seem confident in your use of sophisticated language. I enjoy it, and I enjoy not having to edit my own language with you.
I'm relieved to hear that you do get enough sleep overall, despite it being broken.
Is the situation with your family urgent? Can you put it off till after your surgery? (It doesn't sound like you can 😥 )
It sounds like you have a lot of books in your house?

I appreciate the nuances of language @NatureLover . (There I go again!)
Yes things have certainly eased re the difficult family situation but longer term problems remain.
Yes books are probably my biggest challenge clutter-wise. Someone has suggested I bin them all but I couldn't bear to do that. Books were the solace of my childhood. I've given a lot away and still hope to read others. I know now my reading light helps but I haven't really given myself oermission to read more than that first book.
Do you enjoy genre fiction? You've hinted at maybe getting caught up in series... but perhaps I've misinterpreted.

Books were the solace of my childhood too, @Dimity .
I wonder why you haven't given yourself permission to read more than that first book?
I'm not actually sure what "genre fiction" is. Yes, I do like series, very much.
I can see why getting rid of your books is difficult. 🫂
