Hi @Shaz51  I hope you get good results from all your medical tests.  As if you didn't have enough going on already!

it is suppose to be raining here

but no rain yet , I think the LOW is sucking aall the rain up to make a cyclone up here , we will soon see

we did 4 hours gardening at mum`s this morning

relaxing this afternoon

mum has a very sore hip today , she recon it was not bad , but she let me take her washing home

and I closed the house up and put the aircon on for her and she had some aspro ( which i hadto make sure she took some tablets

hoping she is sleeping now  and wakes up feeling better

My MIL nearly ended up in hospital because of her eyes , the doctor has got her eye pressure down and now wait and see what happens

both mr shaz and i are aching this afternoon

mr shaz turned 60 this weekend

wonder if you can have a gall bladder attack without having gall stones ???

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

@Smc , what you said is very trueabout dementia

when my mum and my MIL tells me thigs I take it like i have heard it for the first times

mum will tells me things that her sister said at morning tea a few days ago ( i was there too )

sometimes my mum and MIL will be telling me something and then they will say " ohh i told you that , didnt I )

my aunty will tell mum and say she is silly ( I do not like this at all )

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

@Shaz51, replied over on @outlander's thread...

I sort of had a sneak preview of dementia years ago, when I had neurosurgery. My short term memory function was messed up for a while. Is not pleasant being told that you've already said something twice, and having no memory at all of doing so. And I was always the one who kept the family events "diary" in my head, without having to write it down. Started keeping a paper diary when our Younger Son missed a school excursion that we'd all forgotten about. Smiley Frustrated

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Hi @Shaz51 @Smc @eth @Former-Member @outlander

I remember seeing a tapestry when my grandmother was in a nursing home and it read

Blessed are those who never say you've already said that twice today

Indeed - anyone who can listen peacefully to someone who is lonely and really - just wants to talk - let them talk - I did visit Dad's mother for 13 years and never felt the need to remind her she had already told me that - I just let her tell me here stories and to this day I don't know if they were the truth - but they were her truth

I don't like it that your aunty tells your Mum she's silly either - that's pretty silly in itself - we all have one or both of two things that are sure in our future - some of us will get older and even old

My Dad would be 100 tomorrow if he was still here -

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Totally agree @Owlunar

I visit an old lady in a nursing home as part of my weekly volunteering. She has dementia, but is obviously a very intelligent and well travelled lady. She has some great travel stories, many Im sure are factual, as I have seen many of her photos. Others, such as her trip to the moon and to The Arctic with santa clause, are clearly not. But she believes them. Some days I tell her a dozen times withun 10 mins what is on their lunch menu. But each time she asks, and I patiently tell her again, its new to her. I dont know how many times I told her my Mum died last year. She still asks how she is every week, and I tell her as if for the first time, that she passed away last year.

But shes a lovely old girl, and a pleasure to visit and spend time with. It will be her 90th birthday tomorrow, and I will be visiting her. Very oddly, she always remembers my name. The staff are akways amazed about that.
