@Bow ohhhh I love your lil display!! The Nutcracker Horde, it comes for THEE!! 🤣
Nice, it looks like it is in pretty good condition!! Does the machine work?
I think it is doing alright, one of the metal bits at the bottom is cracked and no idea if the machine works, but hence why I'm looping in all my lil crafty friends to help figure out what needs doin!! Lil queer community art project lol

Yeah mum collects nutcrackers @Jynx and I collect snow globes. I found some really nice ones while away too!
im pretty sure ours works. But it just sits there. It was in pretty good condition when we got, just needed the paint stripped. It was white and mum wanted it natural.
is the belt in tact? That will be a main factor in whether it’ll work.

Would you ever use it? Or sell it? Maybe see how much your model is going for!!
Hmm... so uh, which bit is the belt? LOL you can tell how much I know about this stuff 😅 I am going to make this project mainly my partner's responsibility cos I have no idea what I'm doing. NO MAKE JYNX MAKE CHOICE OK PLS N THENK 😋

Nah probably wouldn’t use it @Jynx it just sits there
the belt is a circular leathery band that goes from the bottom to up inside where the machine kinda is. It goes around when you use the foot peddle. It’s right of the peddle and singer sign

@Bow Do you put stuff on display on it in non-xmas times too?
I will have to take a look ahaha. I am guessing it would be ridiculously expensive to replace 🫣

The clock on there stays there @Jynx my grandfather gave it to my grandmother can’t remember what for, but it’s pretty sentimental. Have to open the front glass panel and wind it up. And it has a very soothing tick that reminds me of my childhood. It doesn’t usually have much else on it though. The drawers are good for storing random bits and pieces.
Yeah it could be expensive to replace.
the one my mum learnt to sew on was still at my grandfather’s house when I was a kid and I loved playing with it when I was a kid

@Bow aww that is just SO WHOLESOME!!
Do you still sew? I really wanna get my sewing machine back up n running again! Alas, I gotta clean out the house first, currently no place to set it up 😑

Nah not really @Jynx i pulled my sewing machine out before Christmas to make a Christmas bunting. Hadn’t done any sewing for like 4yrs. Started a baby romper for a friend too but stuffed it up and never got back to it. Maybe I’ll finish it.
struggling to see myself getting back into anything at the moment. Feels weird. Like everything feels like this void of nothingness. Just existing.

@Bow it's the January vibes!! I swear!! It's like this month is one enormous liminal space lol
I think it's also maybe just the interruption to routine? That plus the whole 'getting started is the hardest part' thing. What projects are on your horizon atm?
