Re: I don’t feel belonged

Argh, yes. Induction cookware. I've had that in my previous place. They are really really good. I'm actually considering changing my current place to an induction cooktop. They heat really fast and saves a lot of power @Blackcloud

Joys of starting out. We don't realise all those 'little' things we need all add up.

In a way, it's exciting to have this independence. Give us a yell if you need any peer support and connection 🙂

Re: I don’t feel belonged

@tyme @rav3n @Ru-bee have any of you guys ever used the induction cookware before? I know tyme has. I was wondering if you guys do, did you guys had to purchase any cookware that’s necessarily ‘induction’ cookware in order for the cookware itself to work? Or did/do guys just use any cookware you’ve used for any of your past cooktops (that doesn’t include the induction cooktop) on the induction cooktop? 🤔

I hope this makes sense 🙏

Re: I don’t feel belonged

hey @Blackcloud unfortunately i don't know anything about induction cookware/cooktop... i barely cook 😅

how's the cooking with OT going though?

Re: I don’t feel belonged

I cooked with induction once on a weekend away with family @Blackcloud The house we were staying in had an induction stove and I had no idea until then that they needed specific cookware to go with it but I assume the stuff they had there was induction compatible...all I know is it cooked the eggs I was making.

I just cook with a gas stove at home

Re: I don’t feel belonged

How you going @Blackcloud ?

Loving life?

Re: I don’t feel belonged

hi @tyme yeah it's going good. I've been pretty busy ever since I've moved so I guess that's good haha. Yesterday was my rent pay day. However yesterday, I've found out I was charged more than the amount that I was meant to be charged at. I emailed the reception about it this morning and I got a response from one of the male receptionists that works there right now, but his response to it doesnt even make sense to me. He said the reason why I was charged higher was because I was being charged "for a longer period from 11/10/2024 - 4/11/2024"..., so I sent a reply back saying that it still doesnt make sense as to why I was being charged more than the amount I was meant to be charged at, and to ask if they can explain a bit more of the reasoning behind the whole thing as to why I was being charged that higher... I dont know how to feel right now.

Also, I have been applying to work at a boba shop by submitting my resume through their website and entering my details, as well as sending an email to one of the asian retail stores telling them that I'm interested in working at their store.

So far, I haven't gotten any responses from either...though I've seen people saying that they've received a fast response from a boba shop (the one I applied for). So why haven't I gotten a response from them then? was it because I applied for it in the weekend and not on weekday?

just last Friday actually, I was thinking about wanting to apply for jobs just because...well everytime I see other young people working it makes me jealous that they have a job and I don't....

Re: I don’t feel belonged

@tyme okay the receptionist just got back to me. He responded with this:

"Hi [my name],

Thank you for reaching out. I’d like to explain the reason for the higher rent charge and give you a clearer breakdown of how the total was calculated.

You were charged for the period from 11/10/2024 to 4/11/2024, which equals 24 days. Since the weekly rent is $500, this is divided by 7 days to get a daily rate of $71.42. When multiplied by the [..] days, the total rent comes to:

$71.42 x 24 days = $1,714.08

The holding deposit of $339 was applied toward this, which left the remaining balance of $1,375.28, the amount you paid.

This adjustment was necessary to sync your rent payments with the rental calendar moving forward. I hope this helps clarify everything, but please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions."

like... yeah, ok. whatever. seriously.

Re: I don’t feel belonged

Hey @Blackcloud , it's really great that you want to get on top of things. Good on you for emailing and asking about the rent. It's a real learning curve and I think it really boosts one's self-esteem that this is part of the 'real' world.

As for work, I guess it's the luck of the draw sometimes. If you apply just as they need people, you are more likely to hear a quick response.

Did you get help with your resume or application? There are some services that may be able to support with your resume if you feel it needs fixing up.

Good on you though. So proud of you that you are taking all these huge steps to better yourself 🙂

Re: I don’t feel belonged

Fair enough. I'm glad they responded @Blackcloud

If it still doesn't make sense to you, feel free to meet with them.

Do they have the dates correct?

Re: I don’t feel belonged

@tyme I’ve had help with my resume from a few different job seeker consultants + consultants that are experts in writing up resumes/CVs, and with job applications i always submit it with the resume that my current resume expert consultant has made for me (from months ago) and I still get no response from any of the hiring managers with all jobs I’ve been applying to.. 😒
