Re: Calling helplines

Hi @Owlunar

Great news.

Good strategy

Have the latest issue ready.

Thumbs up to (most) on life time

If the odd one strays, say thank you and leave the call.

Call a bit later and get someone new.

Great effort!

Re: Calling helplines

Re: Calling helplines

Ho @Owlunar

SANE also has its place.

Sane gives great forums from affected people directly Chatting to others affected.

Real stories

Life line is a good quick fix to vent.

Sometimes we need to vent

Re: Calling helplines

@Former-Member

You are right - we should all go for Team Sane - here - I have found this the safest forum I have been in - it's a safe place to be - to read and to write.

I read back on my thread a year or so ago - I have come a long way since I joined 7 years ago now.

I am so glad I found it - I think I was given the link by Lifeline originally - which was a great thing

We can vent on Lifeline - I have run off at the mouth there I admit - mostly though it's a worthwhile conversation -

Off course - as you previously mentioned there are times to politely cut the conversation short and ring back and that's okay - mostly they are there to listen

Go Team Lifeline

Go Team Sane

Re: Calling helplines

Thank you for sharing @Owlunar  and @Former-Member  and others.

Starting off as a member myself, SANE has been the most helpful in helping me connect with others. Such a safe space.

The forums are what you make it @Owlunar @Former-Member @Former-Member  🙂 We thank you all.

Re: Calling helplines

Hi @Owlunar

I laugh when you say you have run off at the mouth.

Life line process is to check you are not suicidal. You have to be careful what you say.

I am not and never were suicidal.

A very few on Life line do not listen and try councelling.

I tell them my issue before calling was nothing compared to the suggestions and questions you ask and now l feel bad.

I have always been polite because l realise we all like different ways.

So l agree with you. Some are frustrating and l am sorry l call.

BUT. We have to focus on the large quanity of excellent ones and not focus on one in one hundred not good.

That is a life lesson.

Focus on the good.

We focus too much on somethjng niggly and allow that to upset our day.

We should forget the niggly think like a bad supporter and focus on the good ones

Rejoice I say. Rejoice

@Owlunar

7 years on SANE forum

Credit to you

Also i have seen one or so funny replies on Sane.

So like Lifeline, i ignore it.

The majority are excellent

There is always one to upset the apple cart. (Whatever that means)

Good on you. 7 years in a safe place

Hi @tyme

I am new and agree, Sane feels like a safe forum.

I like your supports l see

Re: Calling helplines

Hi @Former-Member

Yes - it seems there is always something to upset the apple cart - that goes back to Ancient Rome and means something that will stuff up the whole shebang - and sometimes some does tip the apple cart and the owner has carefully picked every apple and placed it gently in the cart - then - bang - every apple is bruised.

And it seems to bruise everyone - in real life - bruised feelings can heal - and I guess in time we learn to go with the bumps and learn from them - thus - protect ourselves.

I gathered you are new here - welcome to the forum - you are already contributing in a big way - thanks for that

All the best today - we have great weather in Melbourne - I hope you have that too

Suicide call back are trained psychologists, much better than lifeline.
