Re: Share a cuppa?

Is there going to be a storm @ArraDreaming ?

Guess what @ArraDreaming , I was in the pool today. Got out and was minding the kids who were in the pool... then the little one (who can't swim), somehow slipped out of her floaty and was under the water. I saw her floaty float away in the pool and I screamed "Where is XYZ!" My nephew then grabbed her head up out of the water, and I jumped in the pool to get her out...

She was okay thank God... but I freaked out.... and she was shocked tooo... she couldn't even walk after because she was in such shock.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Yep, I hear thunder @tyme
Oh no that is terrifying are you ok?

I will never get it out of my head the day one of our kids did that
@tyme
Our 3 year old was practicing jumping and swimming to either us or Mrs Ad
And it was Mrs ad
at the time and I had my back turned and was with the other two kids

I turned around and heard GRAB HIM from just behind me, and he had jumped into the pool without Mrs AD being ready and although he just managed to swim to her a bunch of times in that particular moment must have slipped or wasn’t ready, it was only about 5 seconds Mrs AD had put her head under to go and swim a few meteres away so he could jump in swim to her like they had been all afternoon, it was off a step so he wasn’t from the top of the pool, happened very fast,
It was our fault but our kids have learnt now that they need to hear “I’m ready” after they ask if an adult can catch them

Im sorry that happened that’s really scary

Re: Share a cuppa?

I hear something one day that said, when everyone is watching the kids nobody is watching the kids

And that’s not saying what happened today is your fault, or our fault that the same thing happened to us but in our case it’s very easy to think the other person has it covered

Re: Share a cuppa?

Yeah, that's hectic @ArraDreaming . It's so so scary. Never again.

And the thing is, this little one is the one we watch out for because she's not scared of the water. She just jumps in without any floaties. And seriously, she had a floatie and just slipped it off in a second!

I'm so glad things turned out okay. The middle one was the closest to her so when I screamed, he instinctively grabbed her head out of the water and held it until I got her out. It all happened in seconds... literally.

As for your 3 year old, I'm glad he was also okay....

Yes, I'm okay, but it's not something I want repeated.

Oh, and this little one has been on the waitlist for swimming lessons for 1.5 years now. She got a place and was starting tomorrow. I'm not sure if this has scared her so she may not want to have swimming lessons tomorrow.

I'll let you know how it goes.

It's so true. Agreed.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Our kid was completely unbothered, I said after I grabbed him, Mum wasn’t ready you need make sure we are ready when you do that and he just went hmm okay and didn’t care

Obviously we always watch the kids and have them in arms reach but in a situation like that Mrs AD assumed he was happily playing on the step while he waited for her which he was when she went under
We were more shaken up than he was!!

There’s one in every family that isn’t afraid of water and will just go for it, we have to watch little miss she loves to jump in now too! And loves the floating ring @tyme

Re: Share a cuppa?

Hectic @ArraDreaming

I'm glad this kid here knew what she did.

I get when you said it's worse when they don't see why you're going on about it and don't see the issue...

Re: Share a cuppa?

We really want to get our kids lessons especially with the creek nearby but for 3 kids , 4 eventually I think it will cost a lot I know you can’t put a price on safety but we literally wouldn’t able to afford that
@tyme

Re: Share a cuppa?

$25 per kid per week which doesn’t seem like a lot but it is every single week x 3

Our oldest is a lot more capable because we spent a lot of time surfing and he did a little pre-nippers program last year but gets ahead of himself

Re: Share a cuppa?

The storm is here Tyme, all 3 of the kids sitting at the window watching the lightning and the thunder they love it
