@MJG017 yes, Down With the Sickness is another favourite of mine. The Light is also on my top list.

@ENKELIyes, there so much really good Disturbed tracks.  There's always a lot of meaning to their stuff as well that come across really strongly.  I think David is really under-rated which I think The Sound of Silence shows perfectly.

I hear you regarding CDs being stolen. Except when my car got broken into the little b*stards didn't like my selection so they threw them around the car park and on the road next to my car. I have a few CDs in my car now but they are all Christian artists that no self respecting hooligan would steal. Everything else is on a thumb drive or SD card. And I now feel embarrassed as the RAC guy who came to replace my tyres would have had to endure Taylor Swift when he moved my car. I really should pay the guy more.

I guess I can feel proud that they kept my CD i guess 🙂

It's a bit like those shops that have the theft deterrent signs out the front of the store saying "no cash is kept on the premises."... a bumper sticker that says "Only Christian music CDs/USBs in this Car!" would have the same effect.😁  Having all the music on a USB in the car is so great.  No changing CD's... just hit play and set to random if your can't decide.

MY condolences to the RAC guy.  I hope he's doing okay now.

Those friends who commented about you still playing Disturbed need to accept that The David is someone to whom we should listed daily!

That is exactly what I told them!  Some people just refuse to take good advice!

This song resonates with me and brings up the destruction of my friendship with my best friend/soul mate/mother of my (former) Godchildren. Long live The David.

It's like I said earlier, so much of their music is so powerful emotionally.  I'm sorry about your friendship, that must have been so difficult, and no doubt, still is.

Re: Everything music

@ENKELI I don’t enjoy being around intoxicated people. Especially when I’m not one of them.

We could hire a boat 🛶 and go up the river, all frocked up. Sipping Bickfords lime cordial and mineral water 🍸

David Draiman of Disturbed? Raised as a Christian, but is Jewish?

Have I got the correct person?

Squeezie hugs 🫂

Us girls and @MJG017 @ - resonate - feel close to - love

I only have myself to blame for any confusion... I really didn't think that username through, and I can't change it now.  Something like MJG-is-me would have been so much better 🤣  Everyone else has proper usernames and i'm stuck with a car license plate!

'Probably okay' is better than 'not okay' @PeppyPatti so hopefully tomorrow we can get you up to 'okay'.

@GlistenYes, that's the guy, lead singer of Disturbed.  As far as I know though, we was raised Jewish, rebelled against it a bit as a teenager, but came back to it later, but not very strictly I think.

That my story is not as bad as the untitled.

I am entitled.

I seem to breathe good luck all coming to me.

But when my sons were both 15, my mother stole my children. She engineered my oldest son to go and live with my brother. This is a good thing but she did this without consulting me or discussing it with me.

This is only one thing she did. But as written before, I am entitled.

I am only now getting in touch with the grief it did to me. All those layers of grief are around me.

Aren't we fortunate @ENKELI @MJG017 @greenpea @Glisten @Shaz51

In that we have cried out for casual but important health help that we came to Sane forums.

I couldn't agree more @PeppyPatti.  I joined here earlier this year during the toughest time in my life.  It kickstarted me seeking out more support for myself and is the main reason I've done as well as I have this past 6 months or so.  I'm not sure where i'd be right now if I hadn't found SANE and the amazing people on it when I did.

Re: Everything music

@MJG017 thanks for your words. Ex friend cut me off without (to me) a valid reason in April last year. I still have my Goddaughters' 16th birthday present waiting for her. Several people have said they will be in touch when they are older but I know how manipulative their mother is and I will never see them again in a voluntary capacity. I would have to go to the same church as them to see them.

Yes, the RAC guy had a long bushy ginger beard and looked like he'd be at home on a Harley and listening to AC/DC. I told him he could go home and have a beer or 3 for a job well done once he'd finished.

Acca Dacca, another band that must be placed on rotation in every vehicle. I remember going to a fundraiser for a good friend of mine and it was being held at one of the most expensive private schools in Perth. I cracked up when I pulled into the very long drive way and Money Talks started playing.

I have my brother to thank for my non mainstream musical interests. While I was squealing at Duran Duran he was listening to Joy Division/New Order, Gary Numan and and Gary Moore. As a consequence I love all three of them. The only music I don't like is death metal. The music is great, I just don't like the singing.

And another band that needs more airplay.....😂 @PeppyPatti @Glisten @RachSANECEO @greenpea @StuF @TAB @tyme @Jynx @Bill16

Re: Everything music

I was interested to listen to that track you posted @ENKELI not a fan!!! Slayer and Sepultura is where it's at

Re: Everything music

@Bill16 yeah I posted it more because it's a parody and I thought it might make you chuckle.

That's what I love about this music thread, everyone has their different tastes and I am hearing music from bands I wouldn't normally listen to.

Because of your comment about Slayer and Sepultura  I am now off to have a listen 😃

Re: Everything music

@ENKELI  It's obviously very sad to be cut off by a friend, but to bring other people into it, like your goddaughters, just seems plain vindictive!  I hope you do manage to speak to those girls when they are a bit older, maybe they will be more reasonable than their mother.  That present must be such a painful reminder, so it would be nice to be able to finally give it to her.  We can hope.

Yep, my USB in the car is full of Disturbed, ACDC, Judas Priest, and even Cat Stevens, Creedence and a variety of nordic metal... even some Lordi who won Eurovision in 2006.

I was introduced to rock and metal from a guy that used to drive me to TAFE every morning after I finished high school.  I was a long drive and so early every morning I wad have really loud ACDC, Judas Priest, Gary Moore, and Led Zeppelin blasting my ear drums.  After a few years of that, you start to like it 🙂

I listened to Valhalleluja, and I must say it didn't go where I expected it to! 😁  You have to love surprises like that!
