i haven't watched Sweet As, but it sounds like a moving film! will add it to my 'to watch' list @Appleblossom do you have an all-time favourite film?
despite your mother not caring about your work/study/creativity, i'm glad you still followed through with your interests. i am keen to hear more about it!

Dear @Dimity I really appreciate your looking out for me, especially when you are so vulnerable so soon after surgery. I saw you were having trouble with eye sight on another thread. Mine is too. They mentioned cataracts last eye check. Could that be an issue for you?
@rav3n I don’t watch many movies anymore. Maybe every few months … You mentioned you liked to watch Bollywood. I thought of you and the cultural lens thread. I studied the Novel and Film in my first degree. My brother loved photography and movies. My son is more of a buff than I. I am pretty over Hollywood and mainly watch Indigenous, Aussie and European Arthouse.

@Appleblossom cataract surgery works well for most people so I'd recommend it if you need it. Unfortunately cataract and secondary cataract surgery last year didn't really help my "good" eye (the other is blind). I remember higher doses of antipsychotics used to make my eyesight wonky decades ago so perhaps there's hope of improvement of my present worries. I've recently invested in a $300 high intensity reading light from Vision Australia which has helped.
I haven't watched movies for years... but my interests are much like yours. I should get onto SBS to watch again, I've become very insular.

@Appleblossom oo that's really cool that you studied it! seems like you passed on the creative genes to your son too! i studied a bit of film during my Arts degree, later realised i preferred tv shows over films. i liked seeing character development and plot twists across seasons. i do like Bollywood films still but the recent ones tend to recycle the same old plot... lots of remakes happening in both Hollywood and Bollywood!

I have a cataract in my bad eye which is blind
They won't do surgery as it might affect my only good eye which I have to upgrade my glasses

Love to keep the frame I have @Jynx but I will get one that is similar and mid range and hoping the new glasses and eyes last another 5 years 🤞
