Life after bushfires

Re: Special Needs Children

My next door neighbour has a little boy with autism. Her best friend has a 10 year old daughter who also has autism.

While organising their evacuation it was VERY difficult to explain to a little girl with autism that while they could relocate the dogs and the cat they had to leave behind her precious Axolotls.

There were many more things that were difficult during evacuation for both families (I spend a lot of time being a care giver to these children and being a support for their parents)

May I ask other parents and carers their experiences?

What difficulties you had? What solutions you found?  What helped and what made things harder?

@Shaz51

I don't have any experience with this, but gosh that would have been so hard for them.

Re: Special Needs Children

Really tough on children but especially hard on children with special needs... tough on parents and carers too
