Schizophrenia: Should we change the name?

SANE Australia has called for a national discussion on whether to change the name of Schizophrenia. https://www.sane.org/sane-media/news-comment

Some people - including people living with schizophrenia, their family and friends and mental health professionals - strongly support a change but others are not so sure.  

Some research suggests it would help other research says its not definitive.  

How do you see it?

Yes, i think it should be changed.  My daughter's psychiatrist mentioned this. He said it might be called 'Integration Disorder'.  I think it's a good idea especially if it's not terribly accurate.

yes a change of name would be great - unfortunately sz has too much bad publicity

The understanding of the concept of schizophrenia has evolved a great deal since Bleuler ... yes it is time for a change.
