Re: Uploading an avatar

Wondering if I'm doing something wrong with my profile pic. It's been sitting on my setting page 'waiting for approval' for over 24 hours now.

Have I forgotten to do something or left out a step? I'm new to this-I'm sure you can tell Smiley Happy

Re: Uploading an avatar

Hi LAM,

Welcome to saneforums. I think the reason why your profile didn't appear during that time was because it was outside of moderating hours, which is 5pm - 10pm AEST all week. This means if you post outside these hours, the content will not get published until 5pm the next day, which is why you can see it now (nice kitty by the way, is she/he yours?)

Thanks for raising it as an issue. Please let us know if we can help with anything else.

Re: Uploading an avatar

Same for me.  I uploaded one Monday and it was awaiting approval, wasn't on yesterday and noticed today there's nothing.

Re: Uploading an avatar

Hi JT,

Yes, that seems odd, I can see the image you uploaded in your profile - it's great by the way - but it's not displayed as your profile pic. There are members that are experiencing a similar issue to you. So I will let IT know that you are also having issues.

Thanks,

CherryBomb

Re: Uploading an avatar

I can't even remember what it was! Then again I don't remember if I ate breakfast either so no surprise there 😉

Re: Uploading an avatar

Hi NikNik,

Totally understand where the posters are coming from, I'm a retired XXX technician, followed your instructions, but still had trouble. It just seems there are too many steps to follow, although I managed to do an 'upload', I was waiting for 'approval' (which I assumed was in the form of an email?) which never came.

So on behalf of the all posters here that are not very 'computer literate' and are struggling to do an 'upload', I will say there does seem to be an assumed minimum level of understanding of computer jargon that is required to follow basic instructions. e.g. - How many here know what a USB (Universal Serial Bus) is? Are we talking about the 'port' or an 'external drive'?

The instructions in your first post do work, I think some people may have trouble with that many detailed instructions though, as each step needs to be followed to reach the outcome.

I would encourage anyone that is having trouble doing an avatar (what's that? Lol!) upload to ask a specific question and someone here may be able to help you - if not the Managers, someone else may know the answer.

Regards, Jake

Re: Uploading an avatar

Thx Jake, I don't feel like quite such a tech-dinosaur anymore (even though that's exactly what my 17yo thinks I am!) 🙂

Re: Uploading an avatar

Hi guys,

Jake - always open to feedback. Were you referring to my original post, or the updated one (I found what I thought was a simplier way, and if that's not the case, let me know) the updated one reads:

- Go to your profile by clicking your username. It should be in blue next to Logged in as:, at the topc right of the page

-Click on your profile pic

- change your profile pic (should give you an option to upload a pic)

It seems that there are issues with profile pics (aka Avatars) which IT are trying to figure out. Sorry for the delay on this - but I will continue to keep you all updated.

I also tried to find a YouTube clip that demonstrated uploading an image & using it as a profile pic, which would hopefully be easier to follow than my instruction - but no success yet.

Jake it seems like you eventually were able to get a profile picture up. Did you use the first set of instructions or the one above (just so others know)

Thanks

Nik

Re: Uploading an avatar

Hi Kristin,

No worries, I think it is very theraputic for me to be able to help out someone else if I can and not expect anything in return. Kind of takes the focus off my own issues and gives me a boost to my self worth/esteem.

Regards, Jake

Re: Uploading an avatar

Hi NikNik,

Just did a detailed reply about the 'bugs' I found but I think it went into cyberspace (unless it is being moderated).
The 'bugs' are bugging me!
