Re: Let's Discuss: Coping with End Of Year Challenges

I'm glad you were able to speak out to your ex wife about needing a bit of structure @WizardMotor . I guess it can really help. Sounds like they may benefit from it too seeing there are some challenges being faced.

@Patches59 , absolutely okay to have something simple. Do what you can. Sometimes, the more expectation we have, the harder it becomes!

@Snowie , pretending is EXHAUSTING! I'm mindful socialising is not the easiest thing to do. I'm sure your children will cherish whatever time you spend with them.

Re: Let's Discuss: Coping with End Of Year Challenges

@tyme I just want sleep, sauna, steam and message. In any order on any day for seven days. Not necessarily inclusive.

Re: Let's Discuss: Coping with End Of Year Challenges

Ha @Glisten .

Who said it had to be inclusive? We will get 'along' fine - you in your small corner, and I in mine lol

Re: Let's Discuss: Coping with End Of Year Challenges

Yes this my first truly honest year where I would rather be alone than find myself too deep in toxic situations. I have a an above ground pool that I have carted from one house to the next over the last few years with my 2 kids and I will be in that pool Christmas day weather permitting.  The kids will be at their fathers for the whole time and I will get them back the following Monday.  I sadly even find the angst of Christmas pressies and holidays  with kids a bit of a poo show (can I say that?) so I am looking forward that pool.:)

Re: Let's Discuss: Coping with End Of Year Challenges

@tyme

Things I hate about Christmas

  1. Santa - anyone can hire a Santa suit, you don't need a police clearance to hire a Santa suit....
  2. Alcohol - there seems to be so much of it in everything
  3. Family - I don't have one and too many silver spoons who don't know and doesn't think it's all that bad - it is that bad!
  4. Holidays - my usual structure and routine goes out the window and everything is shut and you're alone.
  5. TV programs - it's all about Santa
  6. Christmas carols - all about Santa
  7. Shopping centres - parents not watching their kids and how the kids just run chaos
  8. Travelling - my usual support people go away on holiday with their families and no one thinks to check on me, include me

Jesus didn't have Christmas, so why do we have to
