Good luck @Oaktree.  We're all cheering you on and keeping all our fingers crossed for you.  Just give them 100% Oaktree and you'll do fine.

Awww @Oaktree ! Congratulations! That's in about a week!

Did they give you any hinters about the interview?

Otherwise can brainstorm some responses together. @MJG017

Perhaps also read over your application too.

Hi,

The only hints they have given about the interview is that we will be working in pairs and groups. We need to answer - why do you want to be a peer worker, challenges and barriers.

  • because I have experienced firsthand some amazing peer workers in my recovery journey and I want to be that person for someone else
  • conflict can arise whilst trying to support someone and it’s important to communicate well to handle that with care and empathy
  • my own mental health could be a barrier and it will be important to remember self-care so that I can continue to be there for others

That’s all I have got right now. I did ask chatgpt but I want it to come out naturally and not rehearsed

I asked chatgpt to create

a peer support image for me. Not in love with the posters but I can’t change it today because I ran out of free images

What are some sentences I can use to encourage others to contribute? I need to not talk to much as well as showing that I am empathetic

Re: Are You Thinking of Peer Work? Have your questions answered here!

@Oaktree

It's interesting that you will be answering in pairs or groups.  It makes me think that they are looking for how you work in a group or team and how you interact with them rather than just the answers themselves.  So looking to see if you are...

  • Supportive, empathetic, and actively listening to everyone.
  • Helping to establish clear goals for the group with clear achievable  objectives.
  • Fostering inclusivity by making sure everyone feels welcome, valued, and included.
  • Encouraging cooperation within the group.
  • Providing feedback and acknowledging input and progress no matter how small.
  • Always being aware of confidentiality, especially if relating past experiences.
  • Flexible in adapting to the dynamics of the group if you find them going a different direction to you.

So things like if a couple of people have given their ideas and one or two people haven't said anything... ask then if they have any thoughts.  Generally treating it like you are trying to get everyone in the group through with you.  Using the good old active listening to reflect on any good ideas you think anyone said.  Al that sort of stuff.

That is my initial thought anyway.  I'm curious to hear what others think.  @tyme @rav3n @Shaz51 @RubyJones
