Re: Bi-Polar

What psychological tactics do you find helpful in combating depression? I’ve used CBT and mindfulness. Sometimes I find just being grateful for things can help.

Re: Bi-Polar

I’ve really only just found a psychologist that can help me with tactics. @Shanan79. She is trained in schema, CBT and DBT. Until now it’s just been talk therapy. I do have a list of self care activities. I have a safety plan that my new psych and I worked on together. It’s for use when I feel

myself starting spiral instead of when it’s too late.

Re: Bi-Polar

The other thing I was wondering is if anyone has managed bi polar with little or no medication? When the side effects on the mind and body can be harmful, is it just a case of better the devil you know??

Re: Bi-Polar

For me, if it wasn’t for medication I wouldn’t be alive right now. @Shanan79. So for me they are needed but I do know of a girl I use to work with who managed it through diet and self care.

Re: Bi-Polar

Like you said, so much to learn. Thanks for your time.

Re: Bi-Polar

I was diagnosed with bipolar 1 nearly 10 years ago at aged 23. Feel free to ask any questions.

Re: Bi-Polar

What self care things do you have in place? I normally try and get 8 or more hrs of sleep per night and be mindful of my diet.

Hiya @Shanan79 @ButterflySam just a lil tip, if you want other members to be notified that you've responded, you can tag them - use the @ symbol and a drop down will appear, and you can choose their name. If their name isn't there, you can type it out and it should then appear for you to select, then it will show up in blue, like this: @Captain24 @Ru-bee 😊
