So I’ve been diagnosed with OCD and am on medication daily. For the past, I would say month, I have been experiencing a constant need to cough. It’s a tic and it’s extremely annoying especially when I’m at work. I think the anxiety around being embarrassed about it makes it worse.
usually my OCD is repetitive thought cycles, but this has subsided since I began a new medication and stopped my last one [edited by mod]. Which is good, but this new tic is debilitating.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi @Anon0510
I just wanted to quickly pop by and welcome you to the forums while we wait for members with similar lived experience to find your post.
I also just wanted to let you know that your post has just needed to have a small edit, removing the medication names in line with our Community Guidelines. They can be a hidden so they're easy to miss when you first post.

Tics in themselves can be so debilitating despite what the tic is.
And yes, I hear you when you said that stress and embarrassment makes the tic worse.
What I've found works sometimes is just to be blatantly honest with those around you and let them know you have these involuntary tics which you cannot control. This will normalise it for those around you.
Alternatively, if you don't think this is a good idea, have you spoken to you treating team about it? @Anon0510
I certainly hear it is not easy!
