@rav3n I feel so much relieved now that I’m able to have the room all to myself and not having to worry about having someone else in it! 😄
also been quite or pretty busy since the relocating as well but now that’s all done and dusted 🙂

Wow @Blackcloud ! Congrats on your new private room! So you feel you can afford this one as well? I know you were concerned about being able to afford it. If you have to pay more, you may want to let centrelink know as it may increase your rent allowance.
Coollies to you!

@tyme yes, it’s just that now I know what things I’ll need to keep spending on on a monthly basis and what other things I’ll need to cut down and stop spending completely (monthly Spotify premium which I’ve already cancelled, gym membership since there’s a gym in the student accomodation now). I hate how the gym in the student accomodation, it’s pretty small and there’s not enough a variety of gym equipment or machines available there…
for Centrelink’s rent assistance, initially I was given $211.20 for it after I attached my initial lease agreement for the shared room on my Centrelink account. But yea I’ll definitely let Centrelink know about the change of room as well as how much rent I need to pay per week now.

@tyme And I’ve forgot to mention that my mum will still financially support me in terms of food (most food, not all) and clothes as well so yeah 🙂

That's so lovely that you mum will support you somewhat too @Blackcloud
As hard as it is, this is a step into independence. I'm sure you will work it out. And yes, sometimes it's about giving up some of the luxuries we have like spotify premium or streaming services.
Well done on taking this huge step!

Hi @rav3n it feels more relaxing and great to be on my own now.
Yeah I’ve just been doing a bit of shopping shopping for some essentials, doing uni assignments, and I went to the gym to workout today so that’s great. And I also went to my parents house to collect some of my mum’s cooked food for me to eat in my own home 🙂
My occupational therapist is gonna be visiting me at my current place (the student accomodation) next week and I’m so looking forward to it because she’s gonna help me cook!!! I’ve never cooked before so I’m really looking forward to it. In fact, I was even thinking of trying to fry an egg even before our session for next Thursday, but I’ll see how I’ll go with that. I haven’t bought the eggs as well as the olive oil yet, though I was low key planning on doing that today but I had other stuff in the way so hopefully I’ll do it like…tomorrow.

oh @Blackcloud the way i'm beaming at my screen reading this!!! i'm so happy for you, and i'm really excited to see how the cooking stuff goes!! i'm a terrible cook myself, i can only make bacon and eggs 😆 very keen to see how the cooking journey goes, good luck!!
also, in case you're like me in the kitchen, here's a lil tip - don't stress about being perfect... mistakes happen, you chuck in too much of one ingredient or not enough of something else but its okay, its the effort that counts & practice makes perfect... but i reckon you got this in the bag!

Hi @tyme independent life is going well!
It’s been quite a busy day for me today, with having to buy some more home related essentials and all, and don’t worry all of them I’ve bought are cheap too. Like I’ve bought a laundry basket that costed $3 from Kmart, instead of the one from daiso that costed $15..
Also, I tried using the cooktop in my room today but for some reason none of the buttons would turn on even when I tried pressing each of the buttons including the power button like multiple times. And then I’ve found out maybe it’s because I need to use the cookware that’s compliant with the induction cooktop in order for the cooktop to work. Because this morning I did get the technician to come to my room to see why the cooktop wouldn’t turn on, and then I remember he asked me if I have any “induction cookware”. Then I had a chat with a customer service agent at ikea about the induction cookware that they have (at ikea) and seems that it is actually because I need to use the cookware that is induction-affiliated. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the induction cooktops and how they work but yeah.
