Allies even fought the French lol

During WWII, Allied forces, including Free French forces, fought against Vichy French forces in several key battles, including the Syria-Lebanon campaign, the Battle of Dakar, and the Battle of Madagascar, ultimately leading to the liberation of France.

Here's a more detailed look at these battles and the overall context:

Key Battles & Context:
  • Syria-Lebanon Campaign (June 1941):
This campaign saw Free French forces, alongside British Commonwealth forces, fight against Vichy French forces in the Levant.

    • Battles: The campaign included battles like the Battle of the Litani River, Jezzine, Sidon, Kissoué, Damascus, Merdjayoun, Palmyra, Deir ez-Zor, Damour, and Beirut.

  • Battle of Dakar (August 1940):
This naval and amphibious operation saw Allied and Free French forces attempt to seize Dakar, a key port in French West Africa, from Vichy control.

    • Outcome: The operation was ultimately unsuccessful, with the Vichy French forces successfully defending the city.

  • Battle of Madagascar (May-November 1942):
The Allies, including Free French forces, launched a campaign to capture Madagascar from Vichy French control.

    • Operation Ironclad: The campaign began with Operation Ironclad, the seizure of the port of Diego-Suarez (now Antsiranana).

    • Objectives: The seizure of Madagascar was aimed at denying its ports to the Imperial Japanese Navy and protecting Allied shipping routes.

  • Operation Torch (November 1942):
This Allied invasion of French North Africa, including Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, involved some initial clashes with Vichy French forces, although the Vichy regime eventually agreed to a ceasefire.

I have spent so much on those home lotteries this year makes me feel ill if think about it, also lotto and scratchies. got like 20 scratchies in gift envelope been on table for days now. cant do house lotteries for a while at least . way way better odds than lotto, but never win anything at all @greenpea

Re: Everything music

@TABs if you go for a walk this morning i will do my lymphodema exercises plus areobics!

Re: Everything music

ok just around the block tho ie same num ber of  m in s as my age in 1982 @greenpea

Re: Everything music

@TAB  my grandmother won the lottery years ago in the 60s.  she was able to buy a unit in Bondi (when it was cheap) and set her up financially.  some one has to win.  as long as you have control over the purchasing of the tickets.  never become a gambler.

Re: Everything music

@TAB  okay lets do it every day!

Re: Everything music

Done. was only three by five time units @greenpea back and front of hips stiff, could have pushed through for double that but why should it be such effort? told myself was b4 6am as so dark, near 7 when got back, so if had gone a block further may have bumped into woman fm RSL walking her dog lol. ( when I go a block further, makes it wider as well (think a rectangular route) as no short cut, it pushes me back another block in other direction), so sometimes I go all the way to end of street and town, ha

Re: Everything music

@TABs good on you.  ill go now. catch you later TABs. Take good care of yourself.x

Re: Everything music
