Re: My Story

Hello lisajane.
Your work situation seems very difficult. I am sorry. You said you moved. Where do you live? I live in a suburb of Sydney. I have lived there for 40 years. I don't like moving. I did consider it many times in the past, however.
Most of my paintings are landscapes. They are realistic. One is somewhat abstract. The abstract one has had the most success in competitions. I also did two portraits.
I went to a committee meeting yesterday. I like to have more contact with people. I like to make more friends.

Hello Appleblossom.
I hope you are well.
I decribed what I paint in my notes above, to lisajane, what I paint. Please read that.
I was born in Germany. I came to Australia with my parents when I was 13. I had learned English in school in Germany for two years. It is common to forget things from school which one doesn't use. I have forgotten a lot of my science and mathematics. That is why I want to buy the Scientific American magazine sometimes. I am lazy however.
Which city or town do you live in? Like I wrote to lisajane, I live in a suburb of Sydney.
Misty.

Re: My Story

Hi @Misty-Mirrors I live in Melbourne .. I lived in Sydney as a child and was forced to move far more than was healthy then, so now I too like to settle down.

Isnt it interesting that one of your pictures won the awards but it is not the only thing you are interested in. Do you  mainly use oil, water or acrylic paints?

Yes I too like a balance of company and solitude.  This morning I went to see a movie with a friend .. we went to a favorite part of town. My son came too and then decided he wanted all the food in my bag and was ok about taking it with him .. and he went across town by public transport to do his last performance of Puccini. They have a week off before new program starts. I came home and dropped friend off.

Re: My Story

Hello Appleblossom.
I am sorry that I have not written for a while. I had problems with my mobile phone.
My provider fixed it today. They give a very good service.
When my parents, my brother and I migrated to Australia, we moved to Adelaide. When I was 19 I left home and lived in Melbourne for 3 months. Soon after I moved to Sydney.
I use mainly acrylic paint. Watercolour and oils are to difficult for me.
Does your son sing in operas? Does he play an instrument?
Yesterday I had symptoms of a cold. Today it stopped. That never happened to me before.
Misty.

Re: My Story

I have become more interested in our immunity since my broher has had cancer. He lives in Germany now as they are more ahead with alternative medicine. Though I always was reluctant to get antibiotics unless really necessary.

I think sometimes our immune systems are stronger and we battle a cold stop it becoming a fullblown affair.

Someone posted a thread wondering if MI was catchy like a cold .. i tend to think it is .. but its not fun and nobody wants it ... so those that dont have it often like to think that it is a character issue. The whole genetics thing has boiled down to just stats and so I am not so convinced about the MI as "genetic" anymore .. genes are just 4 chemicals in different arrangements.  Anyway thats my position.

Yes son is now in opera company but only starting 2nd program this week. next one is a Rossini.

I used to read Scientific Americans .. still have an old one on physics of music. I am sure the new ones are more clear and uptodate.. but now I have good access to internet I look online.

Re: My Story

Hello Appleblossom.
You have a successful son. Do you have other children also? I don't have any children.
In Germany alternate medicines have been used for a long time. Even my father was interested in them. He was born in 1914. He dabbled with them. He did not trust professionals.
I believe that most mental illnesses are due to genetics and environmental factors. I think the genes affect us through a predisposition. I believe the environmental factor comes in childhood. We develop bad habits. When we are teenagers, or later, our bad habits cause stress. We can't cope with the stress. We get ill. That is my story. A lot of people have different ideas. Some believe it is caused by evil nations radiating bad things from outer space. Some believe it is caused by evil spirits. Some believe it is caused by some foods or drinks. Some believe it is caused by germs. There is a variety of opinions.
I am very cautious with the Internet. Anyone can put websites in the Internet. I have 3 websites. Some evil people misrepresent themselves. Then again some people publish lies in books and magazines too. Many adults can distinguish. Some can't. Many children are mislead.
I am very negative today. I am sorry. I had a good breakfast. I am glad that my "Higher Power" gives me food and drink. I am glad I am alive today.
Misty.

Re: My Story

Thank you @Misty-Mirrors your summation of opinions re MI made me laugh. I go with a vague genes and environment re causes .. but in conversation I have heard too many comments "its genetic" used in a tone, as an excuse for "not giving a damn".

Yes there are a lot of lies on the internet and salespeople.

I would love for a higher power to care about me personally but at the moment make do with living in a welfare society and a bit of work.

I am not sure that my son is successful yet, but he is working on it.  Right now, he is in piano room and is recording pieces to upload, then I drive him to shops to busk, and I am going to a counsellor to learn about "boundaries".

My biological daughter is very successful, has a fancy job at a top university, doing a Phd and just bought a home in the inner city, but she is lacking in some essential things and that is very sad.

The other daughter works in the sex trade running poker nights and lives with her father and boyfriends.  The family is very fragmented.  I worked for family unity but it was not to be.

Last night I had a good night at my choir.  The people are being nicer to me than I have ever experienced in my life .. maybe it means "I am goood enough" now.  These are talented people who all have music degrees and work professionally in music .. so that is my consolation, camraderie with good musos.

Re: My Story

Yes, many salespersons lie and manipulate prospective customers. The bigger the product and the more luxurious the store the bigger the lies.
A lot of advertising is deceitful too.
I guess my work was evil too. When I started I was a computer programmer. A lot of clerks (administrative people) lost there jobs because of people like me. I didn't consider their plight. I only thought about making good money and enjoying myself.
Boundaries are very important. Good on you. I studied them also. I need refreshers every now and then. I learned about them in Twelve Steps programs.
You said your biological daughter is academically successful. Some of those lack common sense. These two things don't a always go together.
I am sorry that your other daughter has somewhat loose morals and ethics.
I think it is very difficult for you that your two daughters are not "all rounders".
I am glad you experience joy and acceptance at the choir. People need to have their own interests also. Simply living for their children and their husband is destructive.
I went to a psychologist yesterday. She gave me talk therapy. Today I feel better. We get on well. I believe she sincerely likes people. She doesn't only do it for money. I also sense that she likes me as a person.
Soon I will see s male psychologist to talk about my past problems with sex.
This evening I booked a dinner with a social club.
Have fun.
Misty.

Re: My Story

Hi misty mirrors,

I am half your age however I felt very drawn to your post your post really inspired me seems like you have a hurdle of a life. I don't own my own home nor do I have a bachelor but I somehow relate to you I also do volunteering work and get great thrills in helping less fortunate even though in just like them. How are you coping now? Are you happy or dissatisfied? You have done a amazing job and you should be very proud!

Re: My Story

Hello Bec1985.
I like to help unfortunate people.
However my psychologist warned me recently. She said that many street people hate the people that give them hand-outs. She said that many of them are criminals.
I have ups and downs. The ups are moderate. The downs are sometime so bad that I can't sleep.
What kind of voluntary work do you do?
Misty.

Re: My Story

I hear you I get that it it's hard when the bad days outweigh the good but somehow we push along. My philosophy in life is those who face or have faced mental illness have faced the biggest life challenges of all they are the strongest people with the most strength. I dabble in a few projects I do rec activities with the Aged love it the elderly people are the best people in my world apart from my kids. I also do monthly cook ups with local church and distribute the food to our community I do some tutoring of small children in schools for the smith family and recently I've started providing mentoring for teenagers 🙂
