Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
Possibly @Former-Member I have been hearing those noises in the walls (on occasion).
I've been ignoring it so far, because I know it means more work (if it is rodents).
I would have to get up into the roof (through the Manhole/personhole), to find out for sure.
One thing I do know is that the Termites (White Ants) have been very active.
I found out 1 week ago - that they had eaten an entire wooden Pallet (in the shed).
The pallet is a base, storage platform with boxes & shelves on it.
If they chew the wooden frame of the house, that would be disastrous.
I haven't had a house termite inspection (or treatment) for about 8 years.
I got a quote 18 months ago, they quoted $1000 - I couldn't afford that, so I didn't go ahead with it.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
Yikes @Adge , some resident echidnas might be needed.
Could the family help you with termite treatment?

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
A resident Echidna would be great @Former-Member That might even solve the problem.
My relatives (not exactly family) have wiped their hands of the situation.
It was lovely to have 2 brothers (& sister-in-law) stay, & yes was motivating - last brother left 1 week ago.
Yet it has been a considerable effort to replenish food supplies, clean & pack things away - since they left.
The cupboard was somewhat bare of food (eaten), & the house very dirty...
I shall have to get a termite inspection myself, at some stage - when I've recovered.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
Woo it's a spiky (echidna-shaped) Watermelon @Former-Member
I gave up on waiting for a Hernia op via the public system.
It was going to be another 12 to 18 months wait (from now) - when it's urgent & very serious, according to GP (last September).
The surgery has now been booked, for 6th March (1 week before my 50th Birthday) - a 4 day hospital stay.
At someone's suggestion (I never knew about this option) -
- I went to see the Surgeon privately (1 week ago), with a new Referral from the GP.
- it was the same surgeon who did my 2nd emergency bowel surgery, in November 2014.
- He had me on his records (possibly remembered me).
- He confirmed that Hernia surgery is urgent, because it's major.
- the surgery requires the insertion of a mesh to prevent the hernia recurring (again).
- it's a minimum 4 day stay in hospital, because the procedure is complicated (he said) - not a nice simple day stay.
- My surgery has been booked in for March 6th, 1 week before my 50th Birthday.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
That is good news @Adge, assuming he has he got you booked in at the public hospital for the surgery. Hopefully you will be well enough post surgery for that gourmet cheese platter. Dare I ask about your shoulder?
